BIO
Sébastien Jurczys is a music director, pianist, composer, arranger, and stage director. A graduate of the Royal Conservatory of Liège (piano and music theory) and the Royal Conservatory of Brussels (composition), he has built a diverse and dynamic career in the performing arts.
In 2011, he created his first multidisciplinary show featuring a symphony orchestra, choirs, and soloists (including Natacha Kowalski). He has directed numerous projects at Théâtre Le Moderne in collaboration with stage director Sarah Cerri, such as Le Cabaret des Hommes Perdus, Into the Woods Jr., and Once Upon a Mattress GTK. A winner of the Young Composers Forum 2013, his works have been performed by Musiques Nouvelles (Jean-Paul Dessy) and the Liège Philharmonic Orchestra in L’Orchestre à la portée des enfants (directed by Michel Jaspar). In 2022, Musiques Nouvelles included one of his compositions in their anniversary album.
In 2017, he wrote Bottez Le Chat, a musical tale featuring, among others, Didier Colfs. From 2018 to 2021, he taught piano accompaniment at the Royal Conservatory of Liège. His collaborations include Voix d’Or and Slimane, Le Trocadéro de Liège, Tobiarts Production (Damien Locqueneux), Spectacul’Art (Vincent Fuchs), the Johnny Symphonique Tour (Yvan Cassar), the American Musical Theatre in Paris, and RollMops Interactive (video game music). Since 2016, he has led musical theatre workshops and hosted “ephemeral choir” evenings in Belgium and Spain.
In 2024, he directed Legally Blonde Jr for La Petite Compagnie du Moderne and served as vocal coach for the musical Come From Away at the Festival Bruxellons! (directed by Jack Cooper and Annie-Mie Gils). He is also preparing the vocal coaching for Rebecca for the 2025 edition of the festival.
Currently, he is working on two new musical theatre projects: Grindr Surprise and Mange – le musical. He also teaches French in Madrid and online.
